This 3 hour class teaches participants how to use OCAD's DEM Import Wizard to turn lidar data into useable base map layers and contours. Participants will learn how to set up the various outputs along with the various information you can get from them:

This course uses OCAD, which is a paid mapping software but for this course, all participants will be provided with a free license for the duration. Instructions on setting up the software will be provided via email after registration.
Participants do not need previous experience using OCAD.
Using Zoom
A zoom link will be provided to registered participants by email. Please be set up ready to go for the start of the class with working audio and the software downloaded and installed so we don't have to take precious course time to sort that out.
Please participate from a laptop or desktop computer so you can use the software as intended. We strongly recommend you connect to zoom from a second device so you can follow the instructor on zoom while using your computer to practice the skills being presented.

This course is designed primarily for mappers who are wanting to learn how to generate base material from lidar so you can set up your own forest projects for fieldwork. About a week prior the start of the class we will send out a quick questionnaire asking about your orienteering and mapping experience and what you want to get out of the class to help us tailor our teaching for you.
